Spine Hygiene is absolutely essential in today’s environment. If you practiced anything for 80,000 hours you’re going to get really good at it?  Unfortunately, sitting down is not something that you want to get good at!  Studies have demonstrated that sitting down can increase the force of gravity on your spine by up to 140%!!!  Sitting is not something the human body was meant to do for 8-12 hours at a stretch, 6-7 days a week. Sitting day in and day out, week after week and year after year will exert drastic effects on quality of life unless steps are taken to maintain spinal hygiene.

So the question becomes…What do you do every day to maintain the health of your spine?

The vast majority of us do nothing. In fact, we actively engage in activities that further accelerate our declining spinal health. Watching negative TV, doping up with sugar, alcohol, and pharmaceuticals, sitting ALL THE TIME, staying indoors and failing to get sun, paying more attention to our devices instead of those present around us, thinking about the negative parts of our day instead of giving thanks for the good, stressing about things beyond our control or external to our own life experience…you can see the list is long and familiar.
